Stock Market Updates for the Day (24th May '11)
The market ended marginally up on Tuesday after witnessing some wild swings during the course of the session amid mixed global cues. Investors appeared quite reluctant to build up positions due to lack of prominent triggers, although a few front line stocks surged higher on short-covering ahead of derivatives expiry.
The Sensex, which rose to 18,110.39 but faulted to17,933.94 subsequently, ended the day at 18,011.97 with a marginal gain of 18.64 points or 0.1%. The Nifty closed at 5394.85, recording a gain of 8.30 points or 0.15%. It touched a high of 5422.60 and a low of 5367.45 during the day.
