Stock Market Updates for Today (31st May '11)

The market opened on a firm note this morning on positive global cues. After moving up further subsequently, it retreated a bit after the government released the GDP data for the March 2011 quarter, but recovered swiftly and kept moving higher as the session progressed with the slower than expected growth in the March quarter resulting in hopes that the central bank will refrain from coming out with stringent monetary tightening measures in the near future. A strong close in Asian markets and the positive mood across the European region too aided sentiment to a significant extent.

Realty, FMCG and bank stocks hogged the limelight today. Several stocks from healthcare, metal, power and capital goods sectors too posted impressive gains. Oil and automobile stocks moved up after staying subdued for a major part of the session. Information technology stocks under performed the market.

The Sensex, which rose to 18,526.80, ended the day with a gain of 271.22 points or 1.49% at 18,503.28, while the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange settled at 5560.15, recording a gain of 87.05 points or 1.59%.

Stock Market Updates for the day(30th May '11)

Despite a firm start and a subsequent upmove, the market faltered around mid morning and then spent almost the entire session in the red today as investors chose to tread cautiously amid mixed global cues and a slew of earnings reports, some of which were somewhat unimpressive. Investors also appeared reluctant to pick up stocks ahead of GDP data due for release on Tuesday.

The Sensex, which surged to 18,380.17 in early trades, tumbled to a low of 18,199.52 later on in the session and ended the day at 18,232.06 with a loss of 34.04 points or 0.19%. Commodity Market Overview for the Week (30th May – 3rd June ’11)

CRUDE OIL:

For the next week in bullion commodities crude oil can be bullish above the level of 4625, as we saw last week NYMEX crude oil was not able to sustain at lower levels. If next week NYMEX crude oil sustains above $100.50 then above $101.90 it can touch the level of 103. In MCX crude oil i would recommend traders to take long position above 4625 for the target of 4675 if it sustains above 4570.

JEERA:

For the next week in Agri commodities jeera can be bullish above the level of 14800. After a continuous downtrend in jeera we can expect some short covering coming at lower levels next week. So for the next week if jeera sustains above 14650 then above 14800 it can touch the level of 15100.

Stock Market Updates for the Day (30th May '11)

Buoyed by a firm trend in global markets, investors indulged in some hectic buying on the Indian bourses almost right through the session, and the resultant surge in prices of front line stocks lifted the key indices Sensex and Nifty to an upbeat close today.

Realty and bank stocks were the top performers. Metal and oil stocks rallied sharply as well. Power, healthcare, FMCG and information technology stocks appeared a bit subdued for a while, but moved higher as the session progressed.

Capital goods stocks ended on a mixed note. Consumer durables and automobile stocks traded weak for a major part of the session, although they found some good support at lower levels towards the fag end of the day. Midcap and smallcap stocks had a good outing.

Stock Market Updates for the Day (25th May '11)

The market opened on a negative note on weak global cues and remained in the red right through the session as selling gained momentum as the day progressed. A modest recovery during the final hour notwithstanding, the benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed with notable losses today.

Concerns about debt worries in the euro zone hurt sentiment and dragged down stock prices on Wall Street overnight and the mood on the Asian bourses too was quite bearish today. A weak start in European markets hurt sentiment further. However, a subsequent recovery on the European bourses and slightly higher U.S. index futures triggered some buying at lower levels in a few blue chip stocks during the final hour.

Besides weak global markets, concerns about inflation, fears of another round of rate hike by the central bank and a possible slowdown in growth and fall in earnings forced investors to tread cautiously.

The Sensex, which plunged to 17,786.13, recovered some lost ground, but still ended the day in negative territory at 17,847.32, down 164.73 points or 0.91% from Tuesday's closing mark. The Nifty closed at 5348.95, around 20 points off the day's low, recording a loss of 45.90 points or 0.85%.

Stock Market Updates for the Day (24th May '11)

The market ended marginally up on Tuesday after witnessing some wild swings during the course of the session amid mixed global cues. Investors appeared quite reluctant to build up positions due to lack of prominent triggers, although a few front line stocks surged higher on short-covering ahead of derivatives expiry.

The Sensex, which rose to 18,110.39 but faulted to17,933.94 subsequently, ended the day at 18,011.97 with a marginal gain of 18.64 points or 0.1%. The Nifty closed at 5394.85, recording a gain of 8.30 points or 0.15%. It touched a high of 5422.60 and a low of 5367.45 during the day.

Commodity Market Update for the Week (23rd – 28th May ’11)

Commodity which I picked for the next week is Gold. Gold is in consolidation phase so traders should use the strategy of buying on lower levels If MCX Gold above the level of 22225 it can test the level of 22315 if it does not break the level of 22000 on the downside. The next commodity which I picked is silver, silver is also in a consolidation phase So traders can use the strategy of buying on lower level if silver sustains above the level of 54300 then it can test the level of 54500.

Stock of the Week (23rd – 28th May ’11)

Stock for the next week is ORIENTAL BANK OF COMMERCE. It is looking strong on charts as it is being consolidating with positive biasness from last many trading sessions. It is currently trading above its 10 days moving average with 46.31 RSI in daily charts. If it manages to sustain above the level of 336, we may expect an up rally in the stock, one could go for long position in the stock above 339 for the targets of 346/355 with strict Stop Loss at 330.

Stock Market Overview for the Week (23rd – 28th May ’11)

Last week bears had the complete control on the market until the markets took support from the important levels of 5400, and bounced on the last day of the week to close at 5484.60. Overall trend in the market still remain bearish. For short term, resistance on the up side is at 5540 levels, if nifty is able to breach this level it might see a short term upside up to the next resistance levels of 5600 and 5625.

Nifty is again expected to take resistance from 5600-5625 levels and continue the downtrend if the bearish force of the markets prove their mark. Nifty has also given a sign of positive divergence in the short term. So, a short term rally might exist in the market, so short term traders can look for bullish opportunities for a day or two but positional traders should look for opportunities to short on marginal rise.
